Last week, we chatted about the latest Switch 2 rumors. It’s an exciting time to be a Nintendo fan! But while we wait for a new system to be announced, there’s plenty going on with our fave hybrid console.

Firstly, there’s a whole lot of new Pokémon content to talk about. Whether it’s a new show, upcoming DLC, or classic titles making their way to Switch Online, there’s something for almost everyone. Not to mention Detective Pikachu of course!

Last week it was announced the the classic Western action of Red Dead Redemption is making its way to the Nintendo Switch. It marks the first release of this popular 2010 title on a Nintendo console, but there’s some debate about its high price tag. We give our thoughts on this situation.

Moving Out 2 also hit the Switch this week. Jemma was a fan of the original title, but if you’re not familiar with this crazy multiplayer game, we talk about what it’s like and what makes it so much fun.

The highlight of last week’s show was Pikmin 4, and we continue our conversation on this amazing new entry to the series. Trev has also been tinkering with Hey! Pikmin, which actually celebrated its 6gth anniversary on 28 July.

We also discuss two new Nintendo Switch Online entries, namely The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Season and Oracle of Ages. These classic top-down adventures spark an update on our time in Hyrule – what’s that? Did Jemma manage to conquer a temple this week?

We also talk about a pair of new eShop titles that look interesting. Disney Illusion Island is a throwback to Mickey’s classic ’90s platformers with a new aesthetic twist. Meanwhile, Venba is a special-lloking indie title that blends cooking sim gameplay with a deep and emotional narrative.

We round out the show by discussing the games we’re playing at the moment. Trev gives an update on Zen Pinball FX, which seems to have compromised quality for realism in this latest outing. Kirk is playing an RPG called Cross Tails, while Jemma is delving into the Shakespearean-JRPG crossover know as This Way Madness Lies.

Last week was all about Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. This week begins with a look at the Famicom, which celebrated its 40th anniversary last week. We talk about some NES memories, including Konami’s Jackal – is it time for a revamp of this classic?

We spend a lot of time discussing Pikmin 4. Apart from the recent demo, we’re still fresh to this latest entry in the plant-based series, and Kirk and Jemma talk about the things they like and don’t like so far. It’s actually a terrific game (but why isn’t there a proper co-op mode?!).

We also give an update on our time in Hyrule, with Katey getting super close to finishing. And Jemma finally found a temple! Has she finished, though? You’ll have to listen to find out. We also talk about best fuses and gloom monsters, including Phantom Ganon. Yikes!

Apart from Pikmin 4, we’re playing plenty of other games this week, including a platformer called Garlic, a shooter called ProtoCorgi, and even the newly released app Pokémon Sleep.

This week, we’ve spent some time with the latest tracks, and we give our impressions of the courses in the Feather and Cherry Cups. We talk a bout favorite moments, which characters we’ve tried, and who we’d like to see next. We also talk about what’s next for Mario Kart. Is it time to go open world?

Kirk also gives us a rundown of the latest entry in the Zen Pinball FX series, which uses a new engine. This free-to-download game allows players to pick and choose which themes to download and play in the form of DLC, and Kirk has some thoughts on how it works. Watch for his co-review with Trev soon!

Meanwhile, Jemma has been playing an action-adventure titles called Bleak Sword DX, a retro-inspired outing with a black-white-and-red aesthetic. It’s fun, tough, and comes packed with content, so watch for Jemma’s upcoming review.

Finally, we chat about Pokémon Sleep, a new app in beta mode that tracks your sleep while collecting pocket monster. This leads us to a discussion of other health-based apps, like Pokémon Smile. Have you tried any similar apps?

Last week, we discussed upcoming games like Lara Croft and Persona 5. This week, we have stacks more to talk about after Nintendo announced a huge lineup of titles for the second half of this year and beyond. Titles like Batman Arkham Trilogy, Super Mario RPG remake, AND a completely new 2D Mario game, it’s needless to say that we’re excited for the second half of 2023.

Other highlights of the direct include a little title called Vampire Survivor. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a popular mobile game that was doing the rounds last year. Jemma, in particular, was hoping it would make its way to the Switch, and now we know it will debut on the hybrid console in August.

Meanwhile, Wario is back with a new collection of crazy microgames in WarioWare: Move It! We’re all fans of this nutty series, and this one promises to bring some boardgame mechanics to proceedings.

The highlight, though, has to be the surprise announcement of Super Mario Bros. Wonder. We’ve been clamouring for a new 2D Mario title for years – literally – and this one promises to shake things up by introducing some cool new elements and an interesting elephant powerup. We can’t wait to hear more about this one!

Whether it’s confronting an angry Thunder Gleoch, or rescuing a couple trapped in a cabin surrounded by monsters, there’s always something to do.

Finally, Kirk gives us the best description he can of an embargoed JRPG he’s currently reviewing, without giving anything away. Sounds intriguing!

Kirk takes us through some of the ins and outs of the AEW title, while Justin gives us the finer details of this interesting-sounding baseball outing.

Meanwhile, Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection is out this week and we’re reviewing all three titles. Trev gives us a little more detail about what to expect from the collection.

Finally, Nintendo announced a new entry in the 1-2 Switch series – which actually wasn’t a series until now. This announcement took us all by surprise, and we end the show with a recap of our history with the first title and our expectations on the sequel.
